It was such a feeling of being grown up and beautiful. The habit of wearing beauty products has continued into my adulthood but the part of being grown up is no longer the reason. I do however, still love feeling beautiful.

A few years ago, a friend turned me onto organic beauty products. Up until that point, I hadn’t really thought too much about what I was actually putting on my face and body. I had a routine that stuck to on a daily basis. Lotion from head to toe. A little bit of eyeliner, and whatever lip gloss I had decided on that week. I did all of this without the slightest of thoughts about where these products come from or what I’m actually putting on my body. Products that are made from synthetic ingredients can contain many harsh chemical combinations such as aluminum derivatives, harmful antibacterial agents, and even pesticides. So, while they may get the job done of prettying you up, those man-made chemicals might be harmful when they are absorbed into the skin. I was fascinated to learn that up to sixty percent of ingredients from a typical body product can be absorbed into the skin. Think about that the next time you read the ingredients on the back of your bottle of lotion.

Natural and organic beauty products are made with only natural ingredients. Chemicals and dyes are left out, so there are no harmful agents for your skin to absorb and even the most sensitive skin is less likely to be irritated. While natural ingredients do benefit your face, they are also much better for the environment than products from synthetic materials. So each time you put on that organic eye shadow, you can feel good about your personal appearance and your impact on good old mother earth.

Another reason to use these products is the small amounts of SPF that are built in to organic beauty products protecting you from the harsh rays of the sun. It isn’t enough to protect you from a sun-filled day at the beach but it will provide an extra level of protection, and this is always a good thing. I have also found that the organic beauty products that I use show better on my skin and seem to last a lot longer than synthetic stuff.

Although I am not twelve years old any longer, I am still just a girl who loves feeling beautiful. I jumped wholeheartedly onto the organic beauty product bandwagon and now I have wonderful natural products that make me look great and feel great.<

More than ever before, we hear this word in the news, on billboards, in conversation and even at work. Interestingly, there is no universally-accepted definition of wellness. There is, however, a set of common characteristics seen in most thoughtful attempts at a definition of wellness. We generally see a reference to a “state of well-being,” which is vague, to say the least. Also frequently seen is a “state of acceptance or satisfaction with our present condition.”

The truth is wellness is a tough word to define. That said, we’ll leave it to Charles B. Corbin of Arizona State University who gives this definition of wellness: “Wellness is a multidimensional state of being describing the existence of positive health in an individual as exemplified by quality of life and a sense of well-being.”

Wellness is an active process of becoming aware of and making choices toward a more successful existence.

Process means that improvement is always possible
Aware means that we are continuously seeking more information about how we can improve.
Choices means that we consider a variety of options and select those in our best interest.
Success is determined by each individual to be their collection of life accomplishments.

Natural beauty products have also become more popular during recent years but you can’t beat having a healthy diet and regular exercise to give you a good beauty foundation. It’s this natural beauty regime that will help you improve your looks and overall appearance the most.

It’s always good to know that you are only using beauty products to accentuate the natural, healthy beauty you have from a good diet and exercise and not because you have too. Beauty products designed for our hair come in many forms and you can easily choose your items according to your specific needs. With the range and variety of hair care products now available, almost any effect can be achieved.

Someone with unmanageable hair for instance can use a de-frizzing agent to bring it under control. For those people that have the opposite problem, there are hair care products that can achieve the reverse and give lifeless hair more control and body. There are hair care products developed for all different needs and all different hair types.

Your nails are important too but a healthy diet and some sunshine are necessary requirements if you want them to grow strong.Other beauty products like vitamin supplements are often ignored but are extremely useful in a world where healthy diets are rare.

You can always opt for natural beauty products designed specifically to beautify and strengthen natural nails or you can have your nails professionally designed by a manicurist. Some people that suffer with soft nails may find that using acrylic nails as a suitable option as they can be applied in around an hour and are easier to decorate.

The typical view of beauty products used on the skin is divided into two areas, creams and anti-aging products although this is far from the truth. There are countless items that promote healthy, youthful skin and these may be some of the most important natural skincare products on the market.

It is important to remember that we are covered in skin from our head to our toes. There is nothing wrong with looking after your skin and keeping it clean and moisturized if you want it to keep its natural beauty, especially with the amount of pollution in today’s atmosphere. By adopting the beauty product ideas here you may find that your appearance takes on a whole new life!

This has led to a decrease in the demand for cosmetics that are made from strong chemicals or toxic materials. Now, more and more people are getting inclined towards organic and natural beauty products.

Organic beauty products

Whether you want to buy lip colors or a good quality facial soap, the range of organic beauty products is endless. Organic beauty products are made from natural extracts taken from organic plants (plants that are grown using natural manure without any use of pesticides). Organic cosmetics are safe for use and do not cause any damage to your skin or hairs.

Read the ingredients

Are you looking for the best beauty products that take good care of your skin and hair? Some of the best selling beauty product’s brands are Burt’s Bees and Tom’s of Maine. Before you buy any beauty product, don’t forget to go through its ingredients. Even if you go in for any natural beauty product (especially, Cleansing Oil or any facial cream), it is advisable to check whether it contains any ingredient that you are allergic to.

Find the best beauty products

Internet is the best place to know as much as you want about the best selling beauty products. Also, there are websites that provide all the best selling beauty products through their online stores. These websites also have expert professionals to help you choose the best beauty products depending upon your skin type or hair type. Whether it is about hair oil or any lotion for skin, you can get information on any beauty product that you want.

Beauty products are meant to make you look attractive and also take care of your skin and hair. However, there are many beauty products available in the market that can be detrimental to your skin or hair. So, it is advisable to choose reputed brands that are already tried and tested. It is also better to buy these products from websites that also offer expert advices as to which product to buy.

So have you purchased a beauty product recently? How was it? Beauty products have been around for some time primarily to make anyone beautiful and to keep his or her skin young looking all the time.

There are also instances when beauty products are manufactured to promote aromatherapy. So who create them? Various cosmetic companies essentially produce them. Meanwhile, different forms of media play a significant role in promoting and endorsing them to the purchasing public. These days, several cosmetic companies are channeling more efforts to beauty products for men. Truly, at this time and age, men have also come to pay attention to their looks and over-all appeal just like the female population.

Certainly, beauty products differ a lot from each other that are why it is crucial to know what you really want to purchase from the very beginning. Moreover, you might want to try alternative products that can be used instead of the usual chemical-based. These are oftentimes referred to as natural beauty products that are composed mostly of minerals. No synthetic material or fragrance is incorporated in this type of product. In addition, they are commonly more tender to use on the skin. Plant extracts such as fenugreek are the main source of these natural products. Moreover, they are used, for the most part, to defy the signs of skin aging. In essence, these products also boast of antioxidants, phytonutrients and certain skin-friendly vitamins. Hence, people who get allergies when using chemically founded beauty agents can opt for the natural alternatives instead.

A long time ago, ancient people have already created and used cosmetic products. In the early times, becoming beautiful is an opulence that people are obsessed about. What are the products that have gained prominence through time? There are skin products such as soaps, scrubs and bath salts. In addition, there are also hair products such as conditioners and hair colors. Body care products are also not to be forgotten. There have already been nail care, moisturizers and deodorants. Meanwhile, anyone with wrinkles or pimples can pick the appropriate beauty products that have been created to heal them.

Today, with the birth of online technology, these products have also become existent over the internet. Yes, by just going online, anyone can now buy these beauty products with just a click. However, do not be fooled, online purchasing is not always trustworthy and successful. There are websites that have been known to be undependable. Check out the website called extendedlengths.com; this has received several off-putting feedbacks from disgruntled customers. Now this should make you ponder on the other options available for you. For instance, there was a negative comment from a client who claimed that when he/she purchased beauty products from extended lengths, not a single product was delivered to him/her. This means he/she simply wasted money on this online order. Hence, this situation should make you think twice next time when availing the services of this website.

So what should you do to shun these forms of deception? Never ever forget the power of research. Make sure that you vigorously carry out an extensive research on all your options. Do a background and reputation check. See if they even have loyal customers in the first place. It is indeed necessary to go to review sites and forums online to know about experiences ordinary people had with them. If you found more affirmative comments than bad, then you are in luck. On the other hand, if you read more disappointing reviews than positive ones, it is time to check out other companies. Do not make the same mistake as that one client who learned his/her lesson from purchasing through extendedlengths. Now this is something that should be done so as not to make your time and money go to waste.

Hence, if you are planning to purchase beauty products online next time, make a wise move — find the company that truly “delivers” and will not disappoint you.

Stages of life, such as college, a career change or [insert applicable life stage here] often result in an unhappy parting between women and their favorite beauty products. However, just because you’ve got to scale back on the brand names, doesn’t mean you have to scale back on quality. Here are some of my favorite budget crunch options:

1. L’OREAL Paris Vive Pro- Nutri Gloss Shampoo & Conditioner: This product makes your hair super shiny, smells great and averages about $3.50 per bottle.

2. Burts Bees Replenishing Lip Balm: Though it isn’t as appetizing as other chapsticks may be, this chapstick definitely holds up it’s end of the bargain. The active ingredient is pomegranate oil and it boasts many other all-natural ingredients. Runs about $3.00 and even adds a little color and shine.

3. Cover Girl LashExact Mascara: I wish I could always buy my mascara from Sephora, however, I have wicked long lashes and go through a tube every two weeks or less. This requires me to use a drugstore brand, and LashExact has won it’s way into my makeup bag for good! Costs about $8.

4. OPI “Big Apple Red” Nail Polish: After reading “The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood,” I decided I definitely needed a signature nail polish. Though I haven’t been able to stick to just one shade of red, OPI’s polish is my very favorite and only usually $5.95 or so.

5. Cover Girl Perfect Point Plus Eyeliner: Pencils hurt, liquid NEVER goes on straight and none of it ever washes off…EXCEPT CG’s awesome PPP. I’ve used this eyeliner for over 4 years and haven’t found a more expensive kind that does a better job! Highly recommended and even comes with an “eraser.” Sells for less than $8.

6. Boots Amazon Forest Mango and Babassu Body Butter (Target): I love The Body Shop’s body butter as much as the next person, but at the rate I slather it all over my winter-dry legs, I can’t afford it all the time. To substitute, I headed to Target and found Boots. AWESOMENESS. And, just $9.99.

7. Dove Cool Moisture Body Wash: I can’t do bar soap. No matter how much I pay for a bar of soap I just can’t do it. I also can’t do fruity/baking scented body wash. I need to feel CLEAN in the shower, not like I just rolled in a bunch of frosting. I also get tired of being yelled at by my husband for using his clean, manly scented gel, so I snatched this treasure off the shelf one day and it’s stuck with me ever since. Runs about $9.

8. Herbal Essence Spray Gel: For a basketball player with THICK, CURLY, mid-back length hair that spent most of it’s days wet from showering after practice, spray gel is a girl’s best friend. Though hairspray is usually my favorite for wearing my hair up, if I’m going somewhere immediately post-shower, I highly recommend this under $4 solution.

9. Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser: I am a redhead. Though my body tans very well and I am completely lacking in freckles, my face has decided to stick with the stereotype and remain VERY SENSITIVE. Just looking at a facial scrub makes my face fall off. Cetaphil is a wonderful solution to this problem and leaves me with no dryness or peeling. Only $8-9.00, and a bottle will last you a month or two.

10. Bath & Body Works Aromatherapy “Stress Relief” Hand Soap: I’m not sure that hand soap is a beauty product, but I certainly love the clean, fresh, ready for the day feeling I get from this soap! Perhaps I’m brainwashed, but I think this scent really does relieve stress! For only $6 a bottle, I gladly stock our apartment with the Eucalyptus/Spearmint scented soap.

Selling in a retail environment allows people to earn a second income, and selling cosmetics as a consultant is a way for some to operate a home business.

Each method of selling cosmetics part time will require a certain amount of personal time because there are many products to sell and the consultant is often considered to be the cosmetic specialist and is expected to explain the characteristics and benefits of all the products they offer. Without this knowledge, customers are less likely to buy the products and the part time earnings will not be substantial enough to earn an income or pay for the products they have purchased from a distributor.

A beauty consultant might begin selling cosmetics part time and find that the customer base is so broad and the interest in the product is so high that they earn far more than they expect in the first six months. This level of confidence in the products they sell could make them change their game plan a bit, and add other people to their company that will make money selling cosmetics part time.

If the product brands are well established, the company might have a training program in place that will introduce each newcomer to the products they sell. Every cosmetic brand has a full product line of cosmetics and a beauty consultant will have a lot to learn in a short period. There are many artistic expectations that originate from customers and a beauty consultant will be expected to have a firm grip on artistic ways that each type of cosmetic in the product line can be used.

While selling cosmetics part time, the beauty consultant might spend a day or two experimenting with the tools and accessories that are used to apply cosmetics to the face. Other days might be spent wearing fragrances and noticing the subtle differences between each bottle that they have in their carry case. A beauty consultant is expected to wear the products that they sell on a part time basis and they must be ready to discuss the effects of wearing it everyday.

Selling cosmetics on a part time basis can be very time consuming because some customers are not able to shop or place orders until after they have returned home from work. Many women want to form a personal relationship with the person who sells them cosmetics because wearing cosmetics is a personal issue and the buyer must trust the person to help them make the right choices.

No cosmetic purchase is a good choice if the person is unhappy with the product and fails to wear it. Even part time salespersons know that if the product is not used, the beauty consultant cannot expect the person to order it again and without orders, a beauty consultant cannot expect to remain in business for very long. A professional beauty consultant will take the time to ensure the customer orders cosmetics in the right skin tone and will make sure that the customer thoroughly understands how to apply the product.

Or the jammed grocery bags you used to grab from your car’s trunk two at a time?

Maybe these days you’re packing less into storage cartons and shopping sacks, to make them lighter to lift, or enlisting a teenager’s help in hauling them. As we get older, many of us find ourselves becoming less strong than we once were. That’s to be expected in middle age and onward, especially if you’re a woman—right?

It doesn’t have to be so. Your healthy future depends upon keeping your muscles strong. Losing strength may result in serious health problems: fractures, imbalance, loss of mobility and inactivity—leading to diabetes, heart disease and obesity. Yet those risks can be turned around, and even prevented, with quick and simple strength training exercises.

“Strength training—as in lifting weights? I can’t do that!” you may be thinking.

Don’t worry. Even if you’d rather pump your own gas than pump iron, the exercises to help you stay strong are easy to do and won’t leave you looking like a professional body-builder.

And the health payoffs are big. Just a few months of strength (also called resistance) training—at home, in a gym or fitness center—can lower your cholesterol, reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease, help you avoid osteoporosis, decrease arthritic symptoms and build muscle so you remain active and independent for years to come.

Losing muscle with age

Most women know that aging can weaken our bones. If left untreated, this condition (called osteopenia) can lead to osteoporosis. A related process—called sarcopenia—happens when our muscles and lean body mass begin to decline.

“The loss of muscle mass starts in your early 30s,” says Michael J. Hewitt, Ph.D., research director for exercise science at Canyon Ranch Health Resort in Tucson. “By the time a woman is in her mid-40s, she may have lost 6 to 7 percent of her muscle mass.”

If that muscle isn’t retained or rebuilt, you lose strength. You also lose metabolic rate, Hewitt adds, which causes you to gain weight. Eventually, as muscle mass declines further with each decade, everyday activities—such as rising from a chair, putting away the dishes, or getting out of the bathtub—may become too difficult to manage.

Many people believe such weakening is inevitable. “We have this idea that because we’re older, we’re not supposed to have the same level of function and that’s really wrong,” Hewitt says. Strength or resistance training—whether performed with handheld weights, exercise bands, or on more sophisticated machines—helps fight that muscle loss.

Your Health at Midlife

woman in the poolLife is a journey, filled with many passages and transitions. And midlife is one transition sure to get your attention. Many things may change—your relationships with your now—older children and your partner, your career, even your body. Some you can control; others you can’t. One thing you can control, however, is your health during this time of life.

For once you hit midlife—and we’re talking anywhere from your early 40s to early 50s—health-related issues you never before considered begin demanding attention.

Here, in a nutshell, are three things to focus on:

Your bones. You’ve probably always taken them for granted, but now is the time to become aware of just what’s holding you up—your bones. After menopause, you have far less estrogen available to maintain bone. Hence, bone-destroying cells get the upper hand, putting you at risk for osteoporosis. What to do? Ask your health care professional about your personal risk for osteoporosis. While bone density screening tests aren’t usually recommended until 65, some health-related issues warrant earlier screening. Regardless of your risk factors, the following two approaches can help you maintain existing bone and continue to build bone:

High levels of calcium. You should be getting at least 1,200 milligrams a day, but most women get only about 600 milligrams through their diet, so supplements like calcium citrate and calcium carbonate might be necessary. It’s also important that you engage in some weight-bearing exercise most days, like walking, gardening or working out with weights.

Your heart. Your biggest risk after you pass menopause is not breast cancer but heart disease. It’s the leading cause of death in women over 45. Unfortunately, not enough women realize this. So if you haven’t already, now is the time to really start paying attention to things like cholesterol levels, weight, physical activity and diet.

Why now? Well, until now high levels of estrogen protected your heart, one reason women develop heart disease an average of 10 years later than men. However, as estrogen levels decline, so does that protection. While it’s still not clear if supplemental estrogen can continue that protection, that’s almost beside the point. If you’re eating a heart-healthy diet composed of healthy fats, lots of fruits, vegetables and fiber, and low-fat protein like fish and soy, accompanied by at least 30 minutes of physical activity a day, you’re well on your way to providing your body with what it needs to replace the previous protection of estrogen.

Oh yeah—and stop smoking. If you smoke, you’re two to six times more likely to suffer a heart attack than a nonsmoking woman, and your risk increases with the number of cigarettes you smoke each day. You also have a significantly higher risk of heart disease if you have diabetes, high blood pressure or high cholesterol or if you are obese and/or have low levels of physical activity.

Your blood sugar. You can’t feel it or taste it, but if your blood sugar levels start to creep up, you’re putting yourself at increased risk for everything from heart and kidney disease to dementia, nerve damage and early death. You don’t even have to be officially diagnosed with diabetes to find yourself in trouble. A condition called “insulin resistance,” in which your cells prevent insulin from “unlocking” the door so energy in the form of glucose can enter, also increases your risk of heart disease, as does full-blown diabetes.

The remedy? Watch your diet, get regular physical activity and try to maintain a healthy weight—nothing new here. And if you’re 45 and older, make sure you’re getting regular blood sugar tests at least every three years. Your health care professional may want to test you more often depending on your risk factors for developing diabetes. Also measure your waist every few months. A high waist-to-hip ratio increases your risk of insulin resistance and diabetes.

Of course, these three areas aren’t the only things you need to think about. You also want to make sure you:

Have an annual mammogram from age 40 onward.

Have a Pap test for cervical cancer every one to three years, depending on your risk factors and previous results.

Have your blood pressure tested at least once a year.

Have your cholesterol tested at least every five years (more frequently if you have risk factors for heart disease).

Begin colorectal cancer screenings at age 50.

Have regular dental exams and every-six-month tooth cleanings.

Get a complete eye exam at least every two to four years, more often depending on your personal or family medical history.

Get an annual skin exam for skin cancer.

Do all these, and you’re much more likely to enjoy the next 30, 40 or 50 years as much as the past 30, 40 or 50.

Makeup applied to one’s face fails to fare much better, with smudgy eye makeup and smeary foundation rubbing off every which way.

Looking your best becomes a bit trickier when the warmer weather teases your tresses and melts your makeup quicker than you can bat an eye. A fully made-up mug may not be conducive to looking fresh and fabulous on a hot, sticky day, but a few heatproof makeup tricks and tips could really help you save face, literally!

Lip smackin’ fun, refreshing spray and sun protection

For a cool, tasty treat, keep a stick or two of your favorite lip balm in the refrigerator. Fruity favorites become even more refreshing when chilled. Many brands of Chap Stick, lip gloss, lip balm and other lip treatments now offer products with SPF 15 to prevent burned lips. Keep an eye out for these sweet treats, as few things taste worse than burnt lips!

While adding items to your refrigerator, consider placing an invigorating body spray in the fridge to chill for a super-uplifting pick-me-up during the day’s hottest hours. For skin protection from the sun, also keep an eye out for special facial and body lotions that contain sunscreen along with the beauty ingredients for soft skin, greaseless feel and a nice fragrance.

Protect your makeup and your visage

First and foremost, putting makeup on while driving is a very bad idea. Full attention should be focused on the road, however it does become tempting at times to steal away a few seconds when stuck at a red light. If you lug your makeup along with you in the car on your way to work, the store, visiting family and friends or otherwise, be sure not to leave it locked inside your vehicle on a warm sunny day. It doesn’t take much to melt a tube of lipstick or cream foundation, making a mess all over your makeup bag, purse and your precious car!

Also, if swimming or exhaustive physical activity awaits on the agenda, waterproof makeup may be in order. Mascara runs quite easily when exposed to water and sometimes even to mere perspiration. A waterproof product allows you to keep your attractive look while remaining as active as you want to be.

Pressed powder may make a better substitute for cakey liquid foundation on warmer days, leaving skin feel soft, fresh and clean. If you require foundation every day, rain or shine, consider applying a thinner amount and dusting a bit of powder on top to prevent smudging, smearing and running of the makeup.

Taming your hair

To defeat the frizzies, try applying an ice cube to your tresses. For a new look, braid your hair while it is still wet for a tight, attractive look. If you wish to wear your hair straight, consider applying some spray gel or anti-frizz gel. When all else fails, tie your hair up in a trusty ponytail!

Allowing hair to dry naturally protects it from heat damage, but blow-drying on occasion can aid in straightening efforts and controllability. Special shampoos and hair care products provide relief for intense exposure to the sun and chlorinated water. Sometimes summer days and humid nights cause bad hair days despite your efforts, so keeping a hat or visor on hand may be a great solution. No matter where you go, keep a ponytail holder handy in case you need to put your hair up.

Pretty tootsies in strappy sandals

For a fresh, fun look with cool intentions, paint your toes to match your fingernails and show them off with the strappiest, sexiest sandals you own. Or, opt for a casual and comfortable look with a cozy pair of flip-flops. Perform a home pedicure and flaunt your fabulous feet at work and at play.

Wearing open shoes will keep your feet aerated, preventing sweating and helping to keep your body cooler. Painting your nails outside instead of cooped up in the bathroom gives a nice scenic setting and better ventilation for the strong nail polish fumes. Your nails may even dry quicker if allowed to dry outside in the warm fresh air.

While all these makeup tricks and tips may make your beautification process easier, sometimes it doesn’t hurt to go a few days without any makeup at all. Discover your own natural beauty by letting loose, relenting on routine behaviors and enjoying the chance to just be yourself.
